An insider tip for camping enthusiasts – Raspadalica campsite in Croatia

written by Dominik July 17, 2017
Raspadalica campsite in Croatia

I love secret places far away from populated areas. When it comes to camping sites, it’s getting quite difficult to find nature oriented camping spots in Europe. That’s why I would like to dedicate this blog post to the Raspadalica (location) campsite in Croatia, owned by my friends Ana & Nevio.

Raspadilica campsite in Croatia – An insider tip for nature lovers

Raspadalica is located in the North of Croatia near the small town Buzet, close to the Slovenian border. Raspadalica is a small campsite based on a hill 550 meters above sea level. It offers an awesome view over the hills and valleys of Istria. Since it’s far away from civilization, you will have to get along without electricity and hot water. But this only adds to the peculiar charm this place is radiating. Nevertheless Ana, one of the owners, insisted on building an infinity pool at the edge of the hill. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy calm romantic sunsets relaxing in the pool at the same time.

Paragliding, hang gliding, quad driving, cave exploring

But this camping site is not only for nature lovers: It’s a great spot for paragliders and hang-gliders, since you can crawl out of your tent in the morning and take off directly from the edge of the hill. The campsite is getting more and more attention among the paragliding community. That’s why the number of flying events and championships, which take place in Raspadalica, increases every year.

If you like to keep your feet on the ground you may go climbing, mountain biking, quad driving, cave exploring and more. Ana & Nevio are able to organize bikes, quads, equipment and guides if you decide to give it a try.

Your dog may come with you too

Don’t leave your best friend at home! This campsite in Croatia is one of a few, where you’re not only accepted to bring your dog with you, it’s a must! Ana & Nevio are both dog lovers!

Just in case your dog loves to swim, I recommend to visit Sipar beach in the lovely seaside town Mošćenička Draga (location). This town is only 45 minutes away from Raspadalica by car. There you will find a dedicated beach for dogs, fenced off from the ordinary beach. It’s an awesome place where you can experience adventures with your hairy buddy in wonderfully blue seawater, without worrying about other people. In high season the regular beach tends to be crowded very soon, whereas the dog beach is mostly empty. You will have a lot of fun and the dog beach is free of charge too.

Below you will see a few pictures of our latest visit in May 2017. I decided to do a short trip from Vienna/Austria over a long weekend. Therefor I equipped my Ural Ranger sidecar motorcycle with my tent, camping stuff, camera bag, and dog food and took a proper ride to Raspadalica together with my wife and my dog Higgs. If you feel like doing the same, visit Ana’s & Nevio’s website for reservation!
